This camping adventure was an unexpected delight. I had planned to go to the high mountains for trout fishing, but my plans changed when the access road was un-passable due to six inches of fresh snow. I headed down the mountain and into the desert where I found the most beautiful scenery of my life! The combination of thick cloud filtered light and everything being so wet from gentle rain showers made the colors of the landscape pop with incredible richness, contrast, and detail. The sagebrush was blue, and the river ran red with the churned up sediment from a multitude of upstream canyons draining. The dogs had a blast running around as dogs should. The goats seemed to enjoy stretching their legs as well, probably because their packs were light and we didn't have to hike far before finding the perfect spot just inside a red rock canyon in a stand of young ponderosa pines. The stream's water flowed over rock around the bend that half circled our camp that sat up on the bank below a huge vertical rock towering above. Our shelters were simple tarps set high so we could see all the sand stone shapes rising well into the clouds! I slept with the mist of the weather on my face cooling my pillow. My sweet loyal dogs slept on both sides of me as I dreamt in a deep slumber only to wake to such a wonderland that I thought I may still be dreaming. I cooked one-pot meals that were fun and easy, not to mention exceptionally delicious. All in all, this was a magical adventure I will always look back on with appreciation for what I now know were among the best of times! A marked moment of progression in my spiritual journey. Comment: @ASeventhSign There’s something downright restorative about watching Steve trek through the backcountry with that unlikely little crew of his — a couple of dogs with more loyalty than sense, and my favorite, the pack goats who work harder, and complain less, than most people I’ve met. It’s inspiring, really. Not in the bumper-sticker way, but in that quiet, practical way that reminds you how simple life can be when everyone knows their job and pulls their weight. Those goats carry the load without fuss, the dogs keep the whole operation honest, and together they make a team that’d put half the corporate org charts in America to shame. In a time when everything comes with an app, a subscription, and a user manual thick enough to chock a tire, Steve’s four-legged crew is a reminder of how beautiful simple can be. No drama, no overthinking — just honest work, shared miles, and the kind of companionship you don’t have to plug in. Watching them move together across the landscape feels like proof that not everything needs fixing… some things are already exactly the way they ought to be. Love for the great outdoors is contagious. When your friends and family see your passion and what camping does for you they naturally want to try some of that nature stuff for themselves. What better activity to dip your toe into when camping than building and feeding a Firebox Stove Campfire? What gift could be more thoughtful or unique? Every year around the world, Firebox Stoves are received. Then, right away, they are outside with you clearing snow to do their first burn. Reply: @fireboxstove People leave me nice comments quite often but this one really honors my work like never before. Thank you so much 🙏 Let a Firebox Stove warm both hands and hearts for you and your loved ones this Christmas Season. That means an 8 oz Isobutane canister will burn for 2.5 hours. Being a remote canister design also allows you to use a tight windscreen around the burner safely. It’s a great pairing with the 3.5” titanium Nano stove and Xbox. You use this combo a lot in videos, but I’m not sure how many viewers understand how fuel efficient the setup can be, when used with a low flame. I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas Season, overflowing with love, warmth and happiness. Thank you all so very much! Steve.
