http://kbandstraining.com/outfield-dr... To execute the Read and Recovery Outfield Drill athletes will need a set of Kbands, baseball, baseball glove, an assisting partner to make throws, and enough room so an athlete can comfortably run down fly balls. After attaching the Kbands just above the knees athletes and partners will stand 10-15 yards apart facing each other. On a verbal cue given by a coach or partner athletes will take 2-3 hard steps forward. After these initial forward steps the athlete will chop their feet, open up their hips and make a strong step in the direction they are running. Be sure athletes work against resistance and do not let the Kbands control the movements of the lower body. After athletes have made this turn they will explosively sprint away from the partner for 2-3 steps before turning their head and eyes, locating the baseball, and making the over the shoulder catch. Athletes will perform 8-10 resisted sets before removing the Kbands and performing 2-3 unresisted sets. Allow 40-60 seconds of rest between sets. To continually improve speed and change of direction athletes and coaches will want to pair this drill with exercises which will help to strengthen the shoulders, arms, legs and hips. Several great examples of these baseball strengthening exercises and other baseball drills can be found on KbandsTraining.com.
