Places to see in ( Arles - France ) Moulin de Daudet Built in 1814, the Moulin Saint Pierre milled wheat for a century since it stopped in 1915. In 1935, the Society of Friends of the Mill Daudet decided to create a museum dedicated to Alphonse Daudet where would be gathered the works of the poet. Since 2012, this mill is visible from the outside but can not be visited from the inside being closed by its owner. Symbol of the writer Alphonse Daudet and his work, the mill is open to the visit to Fontvielle. Recently renovated, it hosts in its basement a very nice museum illustrating the works and the memories of Alphonse Daudet. From its real name the Moulin Ribet, it was also called the Moulin Saint-Pierre. It was built in 1814 and grinded wheat for a century since it stopped working in 1915. The great war made that we requisitioned both men and wheat, which finally signed the death sentence of the last Fontvieille mill. In 1935 the association of "Friends of Alphonse Daudet" decided to restore it and at the same time create a museum dedicated to the author of the Letters of my Mill. The Château de Montauban, celebrated in the preface to the "Letters of My Mill", was the resort, quiet and rest for the writer. It hosts the exhibition "Fontvieille en Histoires" evoking the painter Léo Lelée, the costume of Arlésienne and the crafts of santons de Provence are presented. A 30-minute family run will take you from the municipal tourist office to the Château de Montauban and an hour-long itinerary from the Château will take you to the Alphonse Daudet Moulins Trail.
