Preparation • Remove the front right wheel and the inner plastic wheel arch liner. • Remove the engine cover and air filter housing. • Support the engine: Use a jack with a wooden block under the oil pan. • Remove the engine mount bracket on the timing belt side to gain full access. 2. Setting TDC (Top Dead Center) • Rotate the crankshaft (clockwise only) using the center bolt until the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley aligns with the mark on the engine block. • Check Camshafts: The two camshaft sprockets have small holes. These holes must face each other. • Locking: Insert the specialized locking pins (T10016) into the holes. If the holes are on the opposite sides, rotate the crankshaft one more full turn. 3. Removal • Loosen the tensioner for the small (coupling) belt first. • Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt (you will need a counter-hold tool or an impact wrench). • Loosen the main belt tensioner and remove the main timing belt. • Pro Tip: Always replace the water pump and all idler pulleys at this stage. 4.
