Welcome to my channel! This is Andy from I love languages. Let's learn different languages/dialects together. Gilaki is an Iranian language spoken primarily in the northern Iranian province of Gilan along the southern shores of the Caspian Sea. It belongs to the Northwestern branch of the Iranian languages and is closely related to Mazandarani and Talysh. Despite sharing some vocabulary with Persian due to centuries of contact, Gilaki is a distinct language with its own grammar, sounds, and structure. It has several dialects, including Western, Eastern, and Galeshi, and is traditionally written in a modified Perso-Arabic script. Though often overshadowed by Persian, Gilaki remains a vital marker of identity for its speakers and is used in homes, local media, poetry, and folk songs. The Zaza, or Dımli, is an Iranic language spoken primarily in Anatolia, classified linguistically as a Northwestern Iranic language with Anatolian elements. Scholars suggest that Zaza evolved from a blend of languages originating from the Deylem region of northern Iran, with notable Parthian influences. Linguists observe similarities in vocabulary, grammar, and phonetic shifts that support the theory of Zaza as a descendant of these regional languages. Although an estimated 7-8 million people in Turkey speak Zazaki, UNESCO lists Zaza as an endangered language, highlighting the need for preservation. In recent decades, especially in the past 40 years, Zaza people have been actively working to revitalize their language, resulting in a rich body of literary works, including tens of thousands of published books. Zaza is also gendered: verbs and words take specific suffixes based on feminine or masculine contexts. This video is created for educational, language awareness, and language preservation purposes. It aims to provide valuable insights and knowledge to viewers, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of different languages and their unique characteristics. By raising awareness about linguistic diversity, the video seeks to foster a greater respect and recognition for various languages, particularly those that are endangered or underrepresented. Additionally, it contributes to the preservation of languages by documenting and sharing linguistic knowledge, thus ensuring that these languages and their cultural heritage are not lost to future generations.
