"To the Kursk region, Ukrainian paratroopers entered on August 6, 2024, including with foreign equipment. Among the first weaponry spotted on Russian territory were American Stryker armored personnel carriers. For the past six months, soldiers of the 82nd Separate Airborne Assault Bukovyna Brigade have been carrying out missions in the Kursk region using this American APC. 'When needed, this little one performs such miracles,' shares his impressions of the vehicle, gunner Roman. On the Stryker, drivers transport infantry to positions, evacuate the wounded, and when necessary, fire the 12.7 mm caliber machine gun mounted on the APC. The Stryker is fast and maneuverable (it can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h on the road) and better protected than Soviet-era APCs. The armored vehicle is designed for 9 paratroopers, but drivers have managed to transport up to 14 people. The soldiers of the Bukovyna Brigade share that the armored vehicle performed best in urban combat in Vovchansk and Sudzha. 'Wheeled vehicles are good for relatively dry weather and more or less flat terrain,' explains driver Ihor. The main problem, the soldier adds, is the lack of American spare parts, as the vehicle is from 2001, so it requires repairs and constant maintenance. In the Kursk operation, the main danger to the Stryker now is drones. This requires inventiveness from the drivers. 'Recently, drones on fiber optics have been increasing. There unexpectedly seem to be a lot of specialists with those drones. You have to be very careful and alert. If you're driving and see a fiber optic drone in front of you, the Stryker can be more maneuverable than that drone. The drone enters a turn slowly because the fiber optic cable can break. You need to outsmart it,' explains driver Ihor. Despite this, gunner Roman adds, 'It's very nice to fight on Russian territory.' --- Friends, if you share the values of hromadske and want to join our community, follow this link and choose your subscription level: https://community.hromadske.ua You can also donate to the hromadske fund via Monobank: https://send.monobank.ua/jar/6BYQbrQcUx Become a sponsor of this channel to receive bonuses: / @hromadske_ua Subscribe to us so you don’t miss the most important news from Ukraine and the world: https://goo.gl/Vt2i4n --- At hromadske, we do not stop our work during the war.
