'We humans consume the world. We eat the best pieces of the cake and throw away the rest.' Pollution is growing every year and has become a part of our natural landscape. Kan Chan Kin is among those who have decided to act. He has adopted a fun approach by teaching children & adults how to make recycled musical instruments from trash. In this talk he plays some of these revived instruments. We are alive, and so should be our environment. Kan Chan Kin has ventured in electronic music as a DJ, producer and event organiser. Feeling something was missing, he turned to acoustic music and started crafting instruments that couldn’t be bought in Mauritius like didgeridoos. With some friends, they initiated the organisation ‘Enn Losean Vivab’, which organises sea activities for kids and sensitise them about pollution. He now experiments with recycled musical instruments, teaches in schools and organises workshops around the island on how to make and play waste recycled instruments. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
