In this video, I discuss why you shouldn't ice an injury anymore. Despite R.I.C.E being a staple of early injury management for almost 50 years now, it's time to head in a different direction. We know what ice can do to pain, inflammation, and swelling. We also know what needs to happen in order for the tissue to heal. Yet when we overlay these two ideas - they don't match. There's a distinct disconnect between why we've been icing for all these years and what the body actually needs to happen to optimize its healing response.
