The career of Mr. Lowe 1952: Worldwide Air Force Champion Earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering World War II pilot who flew B-24s, B-25s, and B-26s Has commercial, single and multi-engine aircraft licenses Worked in research and development at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Retired from the military as a major Worked for 33 years as a civilian at Aerospace Engineer in research and development at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Directed the development of remotely piloted vehicles for 12 years Served as AMA vice president for four years Served as AMA president for nine years Designed the Phoenix series Flew RC aerobatic in competition for years Judged various contests, including international contests Writer for the modeling press for 27 years Honors: Received the Paul Tissandier Diploma from the Federation Aéronautique Internationale for services to aeronautics and airsports 1979: AMA Meritorious Service Award 1988: Vintage Radio Control Society Hall of Fame 1988: Howard McEntee Award 1991: Model Aviation Hall of Fame 1996: AMA Meritorious Service Award 1996: AMA Fellow
