B E L F A S T L I V E S E S S I O N S Belfast Live Sessions #8 Recorded in Yellow Umbrella Passageway Cathedral Quarter, Commercial Court, Belfast Belfast's Cathedral Quarter is a beautifully preserved pocket of the city, full of some of the oldest pubs, alleyways and street art. The Yellow Umbrella Passage (just off Commercial Court) is one of the most vibrant murals in this part of town, with the walls full of faces of eras gone by. From musicians to politicians and local heroes during the troubles. Much of the artwork in the adjoining square also speaks a refreshing satire on the city's troubles and traditions, shedding new light on its vibrant joining community. Today was a true Belfast summer's day. The rain and wind whips through the alley but we ploughed on with a track that has been a longtime favourite of mine "Long Slow Slide" by Jewel. Jewel Kilcher was originally from Alaska and has become one of the most renowned American singer-songwriters. Her songs are raw, honest and powerful and have rung through my formative years. My most fondest memories were attending many of her concerts with my sister back in Perth under the stars in King Park, imagining one day maybe I would be up there on the stage.
