Fatal e-bike crash, Sunshine Coast

Sunshine Coast Police have spoken today about yesterday's e-bike accident. A primary school-aged boy has died after a crash involving two e-bikes , around 3:36 PM on the bike path near the Kawana Way and Sunshine Motorway interchange at Mountain Creek. The younger, 8 year old boy was rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in critical condition but later passed away from his injuries. The other rider, a 15 year old boy, was uninjured and is currently assisting police. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash and are asking anyone who saw what happened or has any relevant video footage to contact the police. Separately and unrelated specifically to this tragedy, Queensland Police Service remarked upon their education and enforcement efforts in relation to electric powered bikes. They are wanting parents and the community to understand the difference between an e-bike and a motorcycle. #viewnews #sunshinecoast
