This is the second video on recognising intervals, the first of which covered recognising the intervals of a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th. As mentioned in the previous video this is an essential skill for those taking the sight singing tests in Grades 4 and above ABRSM Aural Tests so stay tuned if you are an ABRSM student. In this video you will learn to distinguish between major and minor intervals Lets take 2nds. A major 2nd sounds like the first two notes of a major scale (CD) A minor 2nd sounds like the first 2 notes of a chromatic scale. With 3rds a major 3rd sounds like the first 2 notes of a major arpeggio and the minor 3rd like the first 2 notes of a minor arpeggio 4ths and 5ths were covered in the previous video and in this video they will always be perfect and should be described as such As for 6ths it might be helpful to think of a well known tune starting with a major or minor 6th.
