As part of Scottish School Meals Week 2016, Quorn Foods got involved to call schools to go Meat-Free for at least one day a week. To promote this, Quorn Home Economist Cheryl Farmer gave a group of pupils at Stirling High School a demonstration of 4 different recipes using Quorn products. These included a Tikka Masala made with Quorn Chicken Pieces and a Carnation Quorn Chicken Wrap. By going Meat-Free for one day a week, schools will be showing how simple changes to our diets can not only help our health but also make a big impact on the health of the environment. By swapping meat products for Quorn alternatives, schools could save nearly 2 tonnes of saturated fat, 88 hectares of land and 500 million litres of water. To learn more about going Meat-Free, check out our blogs on the Scottish School Meals website, or for more information about Quorn Foods and their products visit http://www.quorn.co.uk . Our aim at Scottish School Meals is to provide information on the meals service across Scotland and to create a discussion about the innovative ideas that will help shape the services in the future. We will encourage healthier lifestyles through education, we organise events and activities with schools all over the country to get children and young adults more involved and we will work with businesses to bring new and healthy products into the school meals service. Meat Free Day was sponsored by Quorn Foods.
