Greek traditional pastitsio, the most iconic Greek dish which is made with layers of thick tubed pasta, savory meat sauce and a thick layer of Greek style béchamel, which makes it the perfect family gathering dish! Pure comfort in one bite Follow for more Greek traditional dishes! ⚫️ingredients: *for the meat sauce 4lb ground beef 1 - 1,5 pack bucatini pasta 1/2 a cup red wine 2 cups tomato sauce 2 big onions diced 4 garlic cloves 2 cinnamon sticks 1/2tsp nutmeg 1 handful chopped parsley 3 cups water salt & pepper as needed for the béchamel 8oz (222gr) butter 1 cup flour ( 120gr) 1 to 1,5lt milk ( depending on how thick you like the béchamel or not) salt & pepper 1/2tsp nutmeg 2 egg yolks 2 cups grated kefalograviera cheese ⚫️ instructions: into a large pot sauté the ground beef until is lightly browned, add the onion & the garlic and sauté for about 10 mins , then add the red wine and let cook until the alcohol is evaporated add the tomato sauce, the water, the seasoning ( salt, pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg) and the parsley, mix , cover and cook in medium heat until you have a thick meat sauce into another pot boil your pasta aldente into a salted water ( optional: for more flavor you can add 1tbsp beef bouillon into your pasta water) when the pasta are ready, drain and transfer into a large casserole, you can add some grated cheese over the pasta ( optional), when the meat sauce is ready transfer into the casserole over the pasta into another large pot add the butter, let melt and add the flour, mix quickly until is fully mixed with butter, then add the warm milk, salt, pepper & nutmeg by whisking without stopping until you have a thick cream, then add the egg yolk and whisk until are mixed and last add the cheese by whisking constantly until the cheese is fully melted then transfer over the meat sauce, sprinkle some more grated cheese and bake into a preheated oven at 400F ( 200C) until is perfectly golden browned and crispy let rest and cool down for about an hour before you cut and serve enjoy either with Greek cabbage carrot salad or more gourmet blue cheese salad KALI OREKSI #greekcuisine #greekrecipe #eatlikegreekwithjulie #spitikofagito #pastitsio #greekpastitsio #authenticgreekcuisine #authenticgreekfood #eatlikegreek #greekfoodie #greektraditionalfood #cookingwithjulie #julieskitchen #eatlikegreekwithjulie #παραδοσιακή_κουζίνα #παραδοσιακόφαγητό #ελληνικηκουζινα #παςτιτςιο Created by InShot https://v.inshot.com/invite
