From Herman Clebanoff's 1964 album Country Music for People Who Don't Like Country Music, here is a real enigma of a song. It is titled "Bayou Belle" and was written by B. Marnell. Other than that being a common name for various boats around Louisiana, there isn't much available about the song with that title. Published by ASCAP, it is the only song listed by a B. Marnell, who there is also nothing available about. Clebanoff's album was filled with Chuck Sagle's unique arrangements of well-known country songs, recorded in September 1964, produced by Jack Tracy. Among the musicians on the album were Billy Strange, Glen Campbell and Leon Russell. If anyone can shed some light on this song's origin, please post it in a comment. All the other songs are known as hits written by and/or recorded by various artists ranging from Hank Williams and Bob Wills to Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley.
