On What’s Up, four news stories highlight UM6P’s activities, including several initiatives to boost scientific capacity, communication, and community engagement. In Benguerir, the university launched Corelabs, an integrated scientific research unit with advanced technologies supporting training, innovation, and research in medicine, agriculture, and industry. The launch featured technical demos and discussions by its three branches: Advanced Microscopy, Analytical Chemistry, and Life Sciences and Biotechnology. Corelabs aims to provide high-precision research infrastructure, reduce reliance on external labs, and foster scientific sovereignty at national and continental levels. Also, UM6P opened the first Media Academy, a six-month program run by the Communication and Public Relations Office with support from Technology Executive Education. The initial sessions covered Earth sciences and their role in resource management, and UM6P’s research ecosystem, highlighting how science leads to innovation. Twenty journalists participated in the first cohort, engaging with UM6P experts and labs. In correspondence, UM6P hosted the first Supercomputing Africa 2025 conference through the Toubkal Supercomputer, in partnership with the Morocco HPC Community. The program covered high-performance computing topics, including quantum computing, digital infrastructures, the history of iterative methods, and future perspectives for HPC in Africa. It featured research summaries, workshops on parallel computing, processor optimisation, mixed-precision techniques, and a site visit to Toubkal. Day two included a keynote by Turing Award laureate Jack Dongarra. UM6P also held a new Community Week across Benguerir and Rabat, organised by the Social Experience Program, Career Center, OCP Foundation, and others. Activities included discussions, workshops, and events. The opening celebrated 71 students who completed field projects through SEP Impact Circle in Morocco and Sub-Saharan Africa. The program highlighted themes of volunteerism, community building, campus safety, and social innovation, supporting UM6P’s community initiatives.
