This is a 20-minute video of highlights from the May 22, 1971 Major League Baseball game between the Boston Red Sox and the Orioles in Baltimore, won by the Orioles, 5-2. It is from the WHDH TV in Boston broadcast, with Ken Coleman and Ned Martin on play by play and Johnny Pesky on analysis. Orioles starter Mike Cuellar went the distance, allowing only two runs and four hits and improving his record to 5-1. The only Red Sox offense came in the third inning, when Reggie Smith hit a two-run homer to left. Brooks Robinson and Don Buford hit solo shots off Boston's Ray Culp, Merv Rettenmund and Boog Powell had RBI singles, and Mark Belanger a run-scoring sacrifice fly. Notes: Positives for the Sox: Rico Petrocelli at third base (02:38) and Billy Conigliaro in center field (15:28) make outstanding plays ... This game has been out there, and I've had it up as part of one big file. But I'm posting all the games individually now. Box score in comments. Not copyrighted. I don't claim the rights to, and don't profit from, this video. I posted it for historical and educational purposes, and for those who will enjoy it as much as I did.
