Original version was filmed back in the third week in January. The follow-up on the 880 intake port was added just a few days later. There are several printed/published hp numbers for the ms 880 depending on where you look. Stihl USA website shows 8.6 Stihl worldwide shows 8.7 The owners manual shows 8.58 @ 8500 rpm A random search comes up the 8.5 to 8.7 hp range as well. I poked around a fair amount and found the hp rating for the 084 has a few different numbers also. In my initial search what I found was 8.2. I stated the hp for the 084 was 8.2. I found depends on where the information is accessed. I finally found a good shop manual for the 084. It shows 6.3Kw. That's 8.4 or 8.45 to two places rounded. The owners’ manual I tracked down showed 6.3Kw and 8.6hp. So someone did the math wrong there. I since found a cherry shop manual with a 6.3kw rating. I also talked a length with a Stihl rep who said it was 8.4hp. Followed up on the hole in the bottom of the intake port - included The 084 muffler came in at 567 grams, and yes, I did forget to mention that number. More supporting evidence for the high winder statement regarding the 084 - it's flywheel comes in at ~ 532 grams whereas the 2100 (a 99cc saw) weighs 598 grams. The 2100 has a heavier crank and flywheel than an 084. Poly 088 comes in at 502 +/- grams Metal 880 505 +/- grams 066 metal 517 +/- grams 084 532 +/- grams Now we did have a chance to see the before (stock) and after (zipped) comparison in the 880 sporting the same 42" bar and chain. I came up with a 10/11 second reduction in the amount of time to get through the same log, with a dull chain I might add, once the 880 was operated on. I am currently available for custom saw modifications. Please shoot me an email if you are interested. danger_cat@rocketmail.com Thanks for watching.
