Wide of room with supporters clapping and cheering STORYLINE: The head of Lebanon's largest parliamentary block on Thursday blasted both Israel and Syria in a fiery nationalistic speech to hundreds of supporters. "The history of Israel is a black history, a hateful one, of destruction," said Saad Hariri, in a speech praising the Lebanese army for moving into south Lebanon. "The Lebanese people are waiting for them and counting on them to protect our sovereignty and to push away the dangers that have threatened our land and people in the south for years," he said. The son of slain former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, a top US ally, said Israel had a history of "living off the blood" of Palestinian, Lebanese and others in the Arab world. Hariri also accused Syrian President Bashar Assad of trying to sow strife in Lebanon where Syria kept an occupation force for 29 years. Assad on Tuesday had made a speech in which he accused Lebanon's anti-Syrian groups of allying themselves with Israel. Hariri on Thursday called the speech "an incitement for sedition in Lebanon". "The Syrian president has hurt his position, Syria's and Lebanon's," he said in his speech to supporters.
