Apparently, the Super Sonic video for Sonic Riders (and its sequel--but I'll get to that later) have been very popular, and a new frequently asked question has popped up as of late: How do you unlock Super Sonic? This video is part of a series that will show the Gold rank for every mission in the game. This is Extra 2, which covers the 6th through 10th of Jet's missions. They are still labeled Missions 1 through 5 though, for extra confusion. These bring us through the latter half of the Heroes stages: Sand Ruins, Babylon Garden, Digital Dimension, and SEGA Carnival, with an extra Sand Ruins mission for good measure. The first four also parallel the Mission 5s for their Babylon counterparts. Again, Jet will be joining you for most of these missions. The objective in Mission 1 is to collect at least 50 Rings, or 75 Rings for the Gold. Sonic has been put up against Jet in Sand Ruins for this one, and this time, not only are there not many dash panels, but the Rings are now no longer always lined up, appearing in curved rows this time around. There is no way you're going to grab a row of Rings from every set this time. Most are concentrated at the beginning, i the part before the first jump--follow the Dash Panels here and you'll have at least 25--and the last part after the last jump, where you can take it easy (I didn't) and collect long strings of Rings, where over 50 Rings is possible here. Mission 2 is a Speed mission, where you must keep Knuckles's speed over 140 in Babylon Garden. You get 1 minute 10 seconds here, or if you're aiming for Gold, 1 minute 4 seconds. What makes this difficult is that you can fall off at many points in the stage, and some turns are so sharp that you'll slow down substantially. Be sure to aim for the middle at the start, because there are dash panels right there to make sure you get out of the startig line at a good speed--provided you didn't jump the gun. I personally find the final turn the hardest--you'll see I skirt the 140 limit quite close there. Mission 3 is in Digital Dimension and is an Air mission. They're pretty mean here in that they give you no Air upgrades and force you to use some of it to maneuver around the bombs and statues at the beginning. Remember--bombs deplete your Air, so hitting even one can cause you to fail the mission. When you're in the heaven section, you can trick off of each of the buildings. Use the grind rails to get back onto the next one. Or you can just follow the grind rails like I did. You will need to use some Air on one of the buildings to make the turn though. Get 100 units to pass and 150 or more for the Gold. SEGA CARNIVAL is the backdrop for Mission 4, and you must attack Jet. Attack him at least once to pass or 3 times for the Gold. Like the other Fight missions, your best time to attack him is at the very beginning. But the technique of slowing down to let Jet pass ahead of you to boost into him to attack him again also works here. Mission 5 is--gasp! A new type of mission! This is the last type of mission to be introduced and is so straightforward that it's perhaps totally unexpected: the Race mission. In this sort of mission, your goal is to reach the finish line before any computer players present. In this case, it's just between Sonic and Jet. Jet WILL put up quite the fight here, and Sonic will need to take advantage of everything he can find to get to the end. You're told you get 1 minute 5 seconds here, but the real time limit is when Jet crosses the finish line, which is around 1 minute 1 second. To get the Gold, however, you will need to finish within 57 seconds. While this isn't as strict as the original Mission 3 in Sand Ruins, remember that the original Sand Ruins missions had you playing as Knuckles and placed a lot of those egg statues in the way to allow Knuckles to pretty much boost through the whole course, as well as facilitating dash panels. Here, Sonic's practically on his own. By the way, I'd recommend you only take the first grind rail upon entering the chamber; you can boost along that upper platform to save more time than if you had just taken all three grind rails.
