3/15/2026 – Exodus 14: 17-18, 26-31 17 And I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they shall go in after them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, his chariots, and his horsemen. 18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gotten glory over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.” 26 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.” 27 So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal course when the morning appeared. And as the Egyptians fled into it, the Lord threw[c] the Egyptians into the midst of the sea. 28 The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, not one of them remained. 29 But the people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. 30 Thus the Lord saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. 31 Israel saw the great power that the Lord used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the Lord, and they believed in the Lord and in his servant Moses. Psalm 32: 5, 10 5 I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. 10 Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but steadfast love surrounds the one who trusts in the Lord. Hello everyone. I hope you all are having a blessed Sunday. I was blessed to be a part of the music ministry at church this morning. God is good. In Exodus, God doesn’t just take the Israelites out of slavery and hide them so that the Egyptians cannot find them. God doesn’t just help His people escape. God says that He will show both the Egyptians and the Israelites how powerful He is. We can never grasp how powerful, how knowing and how present God is. And God saves us through the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. We do not save ourselves. The Israelites had given up before they even got started. God sent the Angel of Death to Egypt and all the firstborn of Egypt were killed and died, except the Israelites were able to sacrifice lambs, put the blood on their door frames, and be “passed over”. If something like that happened in my neighborhood, where I put blood on my doorframe, which meant that my kids were saved from death – I think I would be pretty convinced that God is on my side and will protect me from anything, however – What did the Israelites do? As soon as Moses gets them out of Egypt and they hear that the Egyptians are coming behind them – they start complaining. What? Yep. They have already lost faith. They say, Moses, we could have died in Egypt; it would have been better for us to stay there and remain slaves. Really? Meanwhile, the Egyptians are the same way. They just got their butts kicked – 10 times, the last being that their firstborn children died. AND they think, we just need to go get those Israelites back and make them our salves again. So God says that He will show both groups who is the boss. In verse 31, it says that God accomplished that, because of that Israel saw the awesome power of God and feared God and believed in God and His servant Moses. This is where I want to ad, “for now” or “at that moment.” Maybe it’s just me being judgmental, because I know that the Israelites will continue to doubt God and go their own way and be brought back to God through God’s providence, but am I any different? Ouch! I wish I could say that I trust in God 100%, all the time, because I know that He is my rock and my salvation, but I often catch myself trying to do things on my own and judging others, when I know that God is the judge. So, I’m thankful for verse 5 in Psalm 32: I confess my transgressions to the Lord, and He forgives the iniquity of my sin. This is my only path for salvation – it’s through Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection. God parted the Red Sea for His people to walk through. They couldn’t do that on their own and did nothing to deserve it, yet God gave them freedom and salvation that day; and He does the same for us. Amen.
