Nutrition tips: Beware - Onions are never used in our recipes as this is a toxic food which should be totally avoided. Beef and lentils: These provide the main source of protein for this dish. Noodles: My poodle really loves this noodle dish - poodle noodle! Noodles are a good filler for the meal -- dogs don't need carbohydrates as we humans do but in small quantities these are fun for your dog to eat and won't cause harm unless eaten everyday or in very large quantities. Lentils: Lentils are very good for dogs -- they are alkaline -- don't cause gas -- and a good source of protein. Vegetables: Vegies are highly nutritious so present your puppy with whatever vegetables are in season. Tip: Dogs cannot digest cellulose. Therefore raw vegetables cannot be digested unless pulverized. A food processor or juicer can be used. Note: Do not give your dog excessive amounts of the cabbage family -- raw. Large amounts of cabbages, cauliflowers, broccoli and brussel sprouts etc over a long period of time can depress the functioning of the thyroid gland.
