Welcome to Hidden Civil Rights History, which explores often overlooked civil rights history in the Washington, D.C. region. My name is Gregg Ivers, and I am a Professor of Government at American University. This chapter in my series is a bit different. I am sharing a photo essay on the Southern civil rights movement that I have curated from my travels throughout the Deep South and outside the region as well. I provide this to students in my Southern Civil Rights movement class and I thought it would fun to share it with the public. Feel free to share with anyone you know. I took all the photos except for a few attributed to the New York Times. This video is for education purposes only. Copyright restrictions may apply.
