"Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity." This step gives us hope that there can be a different path for us even if the world around us continues to be complex and overwhelming. In this step we become willing to see that there is a Higher Power, and that it can bring us peace. My own healing began in the rooms of Al-Anon and AA, alongside life-changing books like Codependent No More and the writings of Karen Casey. These were the first steps on a path that eventually became Soul Recovery — a spiritual process that weaves together the wisdom I gained in 12-Step recovery with deep spiritual practice and personal transformation.
