Dallas took their show on the road to Boston for Game 37 to play the highly-rated Bruins. This was the first meeting between the two teams and Boston was eager to take advantage of a Dallas team that was struggling since their second loss of the season to Vancouver in Game 27. The teams played stingy hockey in the first half of the 1st period with limited chances. Dallas opened the scoring around the mid-point of the period. Mike Modano beat Blaine Lacher top-glove from the slot off a nice pass from Dave Gagner. The secondary assist was by Andy Moog. Just 47 seconds later Trent Klatt scored on a boomer from his wing off another nice pass from Dave Gagner in front of the net to make it 2-0 for Dallas. Boston responded with about 6 minutes left in the period when Adam Oates beats Andy Moog on a breakaway after little pass from Cam "Sea Bass" Neely to get him into the zone. Dallas wasn't done yet though and with just under 2 minutes left Todd Harvey went top-blocker-side from right in front off a great pass from Kevin Hatcher just after penalty to Mike Modano expired. Playing right to the buzzer, just like Coach always says, the Stars scored again with just 22.5 seconds left when Trent Klatt went top-blocker-side from between the hashes off great work a tidy pass from Modano. That gave Dallas the coveted 3-goal lead at 4-1 just before the 1st intermission. Shots at the break were DAL 13 and BOS 7. Just after 4 minutes into the 2nd period the Stars scored to send Blaine Lacher to the bench to be replaced by Craig Billington. Mike Modano picked a top-glove snipe from between the hashes after sneaking through the defense at the blue line after circling back from face-off win. About 4 minutes later and Mike Modano welcomed Craig Billington to the party when he fooled him with a top-blocker-side shot that Billington thought was going glove-side. That completed Mike Modano's hat-trick and made the score6-1 for Dallas. Keeping the pressure on, Dallas scored again before the 2nd intermission when Trent Klatt went top-blocker-side on the backhand from the edge of the circle at the hashes off nice pass from Dave Gagner. That was a powerplay goal that completed Trent Klatt's hat-trick as well. That made the score 7-1 for the visiting Stars at the 2nd intermission with the shot totals at DAL 34 and BOS 18. Mike Modano added to his total a few minutes into the 3rd period going top-glove from right in front off a good pass from Dave Gagner from his wing. This time Boston replied right away and Ray Bourque scored just 54 seconds later with a long-distance backhand off a nice drop-pass from Cam Neely to trim the lead to 7-2. Just before the mid-point of the 3rd period Mike Modano finished off the scoring going top-glove on the backhand from between the hashes off a pass from Dave Gagner again. The game ended with Dallas winning with a blow-out 8-2. Enjoy!
