The winding architecture got me hooked, I love non orthogonal design in Doom. It doesn't hurt that the level is quite engaging, with a lot of challenging fights, devious traps, and the familiar key hunt. Where this level excels is in its environment. Managing to create some very gloomy and gothic halls with a limited palette to work with is no easy feat, and Softserve makes it look easy here. A standout moment is the very complex climbing sequence to get to the blue key, complete with a hidden secret to uncover. Honorable mention goes to the disorienting "spiral" staircase shortly thereafter. Great midi choice as well. #doom #retrogaming #gaming
