Vasantgad Fort Karad | वसंतगड किल्ला कऱ्हाड

The base village of Vasantgad is “Talbeed”, (Karad) this is place remembered for Hambirrao Mohite, Shivaji Maharaj’s second Commander-in-chief. This is also the place of Queen Tarabai. We can also see the memorial of Hambirrao Mohite in Talbeed. The route to the fort starts from outskirts of the village. The fort entrance has been destroyed. We can see a Ganesh idol carved in the ramparts. If we turn right after ascending the steps, we reach a big temple. This is the temple of Chandrasen, the son of Shoorpanakha, Ravana’s sister. There are remnants of two more temples. The mountain top is extensive, and is well fortified by strong bastions. We find a doorway in the bastion on the south side of the fort. This entrance is of “Gomukhi” type, and the carvings here are still intact. The ramparts are also intact. There is a big grinding wheel on the fort. It takes around one and half hour to see the fort. From the top we get a good glimpse of Koyna River. The fort is easy to climb. I did not climb from Talbeed village. I took following route, Pune – Satara – Karad – Take left towards Karad Airport – Vasantgad. It takes less than 45mins to climb the fort and one hour to see the entire fort. History of Vasantgad Fort Vasantgad was built by Shilahar King Bhoj. Shivaji Maharaj conquered it on 1659. Later, Rajaram Maharaj stayed for some time on this fort when he returned from Jinji. Aurangzeb captured this fort in 1700 and named it “Kili-da-Fateh”. The Marathas got the fort back in 1706. Approximate Distance from Pune - 170Kms Best time to Visit: September to May What to see? Route Available from Pune Pune – Satara – Karad Road – Before Karad Take Left towards Talbid Pune – Satara – Karad – Take left towards Karad Airport – Vasantgad वसंतगड किल्ला वसंतगड महाराष्ट्राच्या सातारा जिल्ह्यातील एक किल्ला आहे. हा किल्ला पुणे-बंगलोर राष्ट्रीय महामार्गावरील उंब्रज आणि कऱ्हाड यांच्या दरम्यान रस्त्याच्या पश्चिमेकडे आहे. वसंतगड आणि तळबीड गाव हे वसंतगड या किल्ल्याच्या पायथ्याचे गाव आहे. तसेच कराड-चिपळूण मार्गावर कराड पासून १३ किलोमीटर अंतरावरील वसंतगड हे एक गाव आहे . त्या गावातून म्हणजे कराड चिपळूण या राजमार्ग पासुन उत्तर बाजूस ३ किलोमीटर अंतरावर किल्ले वसंतगड आहे . या गडावर जाण्यासाठी वसंतगड गावातून सुद्धा वाट आहे . वसंतगडाची निर्मिती भोज शिलाहार राजाने केली. इ.स. १६५९मध्ये शिवरायांनी वसंतगड स्वराज्यात सामील करून घेतला. मसूरचे पूर्वापार जहागीरदार असलेले महादजी जगदाळे यांचा वसंतगड हा बालेकिल्ला होता[१]. मसूरच्या जगदाळ्यांनी आदिलशाहीची परंपरेनं चाकरी केली. अर्थात महाराजांना विरोध करणे त्यांना भागच पडले. महादजी जगदाळे हे तर शाही नोकर म्हणून अफझलखानाच्या सांगाती प्रतापगडच्या आखाड्यात उतरले. त्यात खान संपला. शाही फौजेची दाणादाण उडाली. त्यात महादजी जगदाळे तळबीड गावाजवळ महाराजांचे हाती जिता गवसला. महाराजांनी त्याचे हात तोडले आणि वसंतगड स्वराज्यात घेतला . याच महादजीला आठदहा वर्षाचा पोरगा होता. जिजाऊसाहेबांनी अगदी आजीच्या मायेने या पोराला आपल्यापाशी सांभाळला. त्याला शहाणा केला. तो स्वराज्याचाच झाला. पुढे जिंजीहून परत आल्यानंतर छत्रपती राजाराम महाराज काही दिवस वसंतगडावर मुक्कामास होते. प्रवेशद्वार - गडाचे मुख्य प्रवेशद्वार इंग्रजांनी तोफांच्या भडिमाराने भग्न केले आहे. गणेशाची मूर्ती आत जाताच डाव्या हातास एका घुमटीत गणेशाची सुंदर मूर्ती आहे. चंद्रसेन महाराजांचे मंदिर - येथून सरळ जाणाऱ्या पायवाटेने गेल्यानंतर गडाच्या मध्यभागी असलेल्या चंद्रसेन महाराजांचे मंदिर लागते. मंदिर सुरेख असून आत गाभाऱ्यात चंद्रसेन महाराजांची मूर्ती आहे. चैत्रातल्या दुसऱ्या पंधरवड्यात वसंतगडावर मोठी जत्रा भरते. मंदिर जुन्या बाधणीचे आहे. अनेक गावात चंद्रसेन देवाची यात्र भरावली जाते. राजवाड्याचे अवशेष - मंदिराच्या पलीकडेच जुन्या राजवाड्याचे अवशेष दिसतात. मंदिर परिसर पाहून डाव्या बाजून मंदिराच्या बाहेरील वाटेने पुढे गेल्यास वाटेत चुन्याच्या घाणीचे अवशेष दिसतात. जुन्या समाध्या - पुढे कोयनातळे व कृष्णातळे अशी दोन तळी आहेत. त्यांच्या काठावर जुन्या समाध्या व सतीशिळा आहेत. बुरुज - गडाच्या चारी बाजूंनी चार डौलदार बुरूज असून त्यावर चढण्यासाठी दगडी जिनेही आहेत. गडाच्या पश्चिम भागात गोमुखी बांधणीचा दरवाजा असून ह्या दरवाज्याचे व त्याच्या तटबंदीचे बांधकाम आजही चांगल्या अवस्थेत आहे. #forts #fortsofindia #fortsofmaharashtra #fortsofshivajimaharaj #nearpune #satara #karad #djiglobal #dji #djimini2 #droneshots #maharashtra adventure forts in maharashtra maharashtra fort maharashtra trekking places maharashtra tourist places Vasantgad temple Vasantgad fort Vasantgad history vasantgad fort information in marathi vasantgadkar official Vasantgad karad tourist places Vasantgad karad timings Vasantgad karad temple Vasantgad karad history Vasantgad karad distance maharashtra fort maharashtra trekking places maharashtra tourist places explore maharashtra
