The family of Tasha Grant, the Cuyahoga County Jail inmate who died in early May, is holding a news conference this morning after video was released earlier this week showing the final moments before her death. While in custody, the 39-year-old Tasha Grant was transferred to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment. There, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner says she died from physical restraint. The Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office released four body camera clips Monday showing interactions between Grant, MetroHealth medical staff, and officers. Court records show Grant was awaiting trial on charges of assault on a peace officer, assault, and aggravated menacing. Officials said she was taken to MetroHealth for a pre-existing condition. The first clip, recorded May 2, begins with a heated exchange between Grant and a sheriff’s deputy. In the footage, Grant can be heard saying, “he’s f****** with me, I’m not in the mood for this s***. I can’t catch another assault case, I cannot.” Over the next ten minutes, the situation de-escalates, and Grant tells the deputy she’s scared of staying in jail. She says she was arrested for missing a court date and is now required to complete mental health evaluations before her pre-trial. https://www.wkyc.com/article/news/loc...
