This is the ultimate guide to making authentic anime food at home. 🍢 Complete Recipe: Homemade Steamed Odeng (Eomuk) and Dandadan Oden Soup I. Homemade Steamed Odeng (Eomuk) Cakes Use this dough for the primary Oden filling. Odeng Cake Ingredients: 300 gr White Fish Fillet (Cod, Tilapia, or Mackerel) 100 gr Peeled Shrimp 50 ml Cold/Ice Water 50 gr Tapioca/Corn Starch 1 Egg white 1/4 Carrot 1 stalk of Spring Onion Seasoning: 1/2 tsp Salt, 1 tsp Sugar, 1 clove Garlic, White Pepper (to taste) Odeng Cake Method: 1. Blend the fish, shrimp, and egg white until sticky. Gradually add the ice water until the dough is smooth and elastic. 2. Transfer the dough to a bowl. Add all seasonings, starch, carrots, and green onions. Mix until just combined. *Keep the dough cold.* 3. Prepare an oiled, heatproof tray. Flatten the dough to *0.5 – 1 cm thick* (for skewer style) or shape into cylinders/balls. Steam the dough in a preheated steamer for 15–20 minutes until cooked through. Remove, cool, slice into long strips, and thread onto skewers. --- II. Dandadan Oden Soup and Fillings 🍲 Oden Broth (Dashi) Ingredients: Water: 1200 cc 2 tsp Dashi Powder 2 tbsp Shoyu (Japanese Soy Sauce) 2 tbsp Mirin 2 tbsp Fish Sauce A Pinch of Pepper A Pinch of Salt(Adjust to your liking) 🥕 Oden Fillings: Odeng (Eomuk) Skewers (Homemade or store-bought) Tofuskin Skewer Daikon (White Radish) Carrot Potato Egg (Boiled) Konyaku Shiratake Chikuwa *Adjust fillings to your liking.* Oden Broth Cooking Method: 1. Bring the Water (1200 cc) to a boil in a large pot. Add the Dashi Powder and stir until dissolved. 2. Add the Shoyu, MIRIN, and Fish Sauce. Stir well. 3. Add the ingredients that need longer cooking time to soften and absorb flavor, such as Daikon, Carrot, Potato, and Eggs. Bring to a boil, then immediately reduce the heat to low. Simmer gently for at least 30–45 minutes. 4. Add the quicker-cooking items like your homemade Odeng, Tofuskin Skewers, Konyaku, Shiratake, and Chikuwa. 5.
