These characters are from my OC story "The Code of the Mountain", based off of the Warriors book series by Erin Hunter. In this world, cats must follow the "Code of the Mountain" and believe in StarClan, or else be exiled and/or killed for heresy. ---------------------- Story Summary (sorry it's a bit long): After feeding his own mother deathberries to end her long battle with a mysterious illness, Cottonpaw is stripped of his medicine apprentice title and forced to train as a warrior under the name "Sharppaw". His faith in StarClan is shattered and he becomes reclusive, his only friend being Duskpaw, another warrior apprentice. Wolfstar, wracked with grief at his mate's untimely death, spreads the word of Sharppaw's lack of faith, making Sharppaw a target among the more devoted members of the clans. He organizes an attack on Sharppaw, and leaves him in the forest to die. Sharppaw survives, and lives to tell the tale, but unfortunately, Duskpaw doesn't believe him. After all, why would Wolfstar want to murder his own son? Sharppaw, now alone, grows up fighting for his life against the various assailants who are out to get rid of him, believing that his heresy will invite divine retribution from their ancestors. As he gets more and more scars, his clan begins to fear him, viewing him as a battle-hungry and violent, which isolates Sharppaw even more. Unexpectedly, after becoming a warrior, Sharphowl is gifted an apprentice, Houndpaw, which begins to bring Sharphowl back out of his shell. But Wolfstar, who had begun to revel in his son's suffering, sees this, and concocts a plan to ruin this for Sharphowl, too. He leads a pack of dogs to them, and leaves Sharphowl to fend for himself. Sharphowl, permanently disfigured by the attack, is not so much distraught over himself as he is over Houndpaw, who may not survive his injuries. Sharphowl finally snaps, attacking his father with the intent to kill. Wolfstar is overjoyed, his plan to plummet Sharphowl into the deepest pits of despair having succeeded. Sharphowl comes within a whisker of taking his father's life, but is suddenly bombarded with memories of his mother dying by his own paws as well. Could he live with having killed both of his parents? Wolfstar uses this moment of hesitation to overpower him. Sharphowl is exposed to the entire clan as a heretic for real this time, a violent unpredictable cat who attacked his own clan leader. Sharphowl can no longer deny it, having turned into the cat everyone thought he was the whole time. Any softness or kindness had been stomped, clawed, or torn out of him, and all he felt now was fiery rage and hatred. Hatred for his father, hatred for the clans, and hatred for StarClan. He accepts his exile and leaves for the outskirts, having nothing left for him in the clans anymore. This place was no longer his home, nor had it ever been. However, alone in the empty moors, a familiar voice begins to echo in his ears. Strange white flowers begin to sprout in the grass, leading him back in the direction of the mountains. Sharphowl's plans change. And in the tunnels of MistClan territory, a clan leader hears a familiar voice call her name. -------------------------------------------------------------------- so. this took me around 3 years to complete when i thought it would take me a few months. i'm going to be honest, i dont really like a lot of the final product, but i was challenging myself to tell a story rather than worry about it looking perfect. and it payed off!! i finally finished Sharphowl's backstory amv! it feels surreal to actually post it, but im glad to finally get it off my back. now i can work on more sharphowl content! yay!
