One of the DOC rangers stops by in the morning to weigh the chick that is under BOK. The chick weighed 780g at this weigh in. WYL returned home with some beautiful skycalls greeting her. We have some beautiful closeups of WYL & BOK as our Royalcam couple. When BOK gets up for the changeover, the chick is yawning and BOK's foot ends up in the chick's mouth briefly! I put it in slo-mo to see it better. BOK was really careful after that getting her paddles away from the little chick! WYL is right there to take over brooding! BOK departs back out to sea to forage. Changeovers are now more frequent then what we saw during the incubation period. They are currently coming back every 1-3 days versus every two weeks. This is to make sure their chick always has an extra supply of their high density squid oil protein smoothies. The GPS tracking on BOK and WYL show that BOK is taking shorter foraging trips closer to home than WYL is. For now this is adequate. But as the chick grows larger, they both will have to take longer trips to feed themselves and their chick.
