Awakening of Words explores the transformation of my relationship with writing and is structured in two contrasting sections, each reflecting a distinct psychological state. The initial impulse for this piece stems from a sense of reluctance and emotional resistance. My father required me to write an article every week, based on events from daily life, regardless of their scale, and to express my own reflections. For someone who had never enjoyed writing from a young age, this requirement became a source of frustration. Each time I was forced to begin writing, I found myself struggling with disordered thoughts, weak logic, and an inability to articulate my ideas clearly. The first section of the composition employs irregular and fragmented piano triplets to symbolize this stage of inner conflict and confusion. These unstable rhythmic figures lack a clear sense of direction, reflecting my difficulty in forming coherent expression and my resistance toward writing itself. Through repeated attempts and sustained effort, I gradually learned to look inward and confront my own thoughts more honestly. As I continued writing, I became increasingly capable of seeing beyond the surface of events and exploring their underlying meanings. Although my reflections remained shaped by the limitations of my age and experience, I was able to recognize clear progress compared to my earlier state. Writing thus evolved from a compulsory task into an essential process that contributed to the formation of my sense of self and independent thinking. From a compositional perspective, the early section incorporates an uncommon raised third degree within a minor context, representing my initial emotional instability and uncertainty. The music later shifts into the Phrygian mode, symbolizing personal development and cognitive growth. In the latter part, the piano unfolds through organized sixteenth-note patterns and scalar motion, conveying a state in which thoughts begin to flow continuously, marking the awakening of words.
