Motorcycle Tour of The Northumberland 250 - Ep 2

This episode see us finally make it to the start of the Northumberland 250 route! But first there was a journey down memory lane for Sue as she takes me back to her roots in Middlesborough and then on to a short coffee break in Durham. Our first stop was at The Manor House Inn, Shotley Bridge where we had probably the best burger ever. The route proper, took us on some fantastic roads through lovely villages (including a 20 mile back track to find petrol!) to the famous Alnwick Castle, the second biggest inhabited castle in England (after Windsor Castle) where we had hoped to spend some time, but discovered it was so huge it would have taken far too much time, so we had to do a brief stop before heading to the coast and a ride by the imposing Bamburgh Castle on our way to the magical Holy Island and Lindisfarne Castle. If you're visiting Lindisfarne you have to get your timings right as being a tidal island , the causeway will be under the sea for a good part of the day, secondly you would need to book a slot online if you want to visit the castle and have a look around. Sadly, we got the first right but not the second. Couldn't even use our precious National Trust membership to book a slot as they were all full. Nevertheless, it was brilliant day's ride in the aptly named Dark Skies country! We hope you enjoy this episode and if you do please give it a THUMBS UP, share and comment!
