A unique telling of the Ploesti Low-Level Raid by a B24 Liberator pilot who already had lost his crew, and a replacement crew, months before. Unique also in that he is interviewed by my father, Joseph Dzenowagis, a navigator on a B24 with the 467th Bomb Group. Both William Cameron and my father flew missions against the most heavily defended targets of the war; Cameron over Ploesti and my father over Berlin. Our family is committed to tell the story of the 2nd Air Division 8th USAAF in World War II as well as its enduring friendship with the English people since the war. We are currently digitizing some 1,000 interviews of veterans, family members and their British friends, as well hundreds of hours of archival video, to preserve for future generations. playlist: / @2nd.air.division.8thusaaf Our father, Joseph G. Dzenowagis, was a navigator in the 467th Bomb Group; our mother, Helen R. Dzenowagis, was a Lansing State Journal writer; daughter, Joan, is a writer; and son, Joe, is a producer and videographer. We had a lot of help from our siblings: Anastasia, Victor and Tekla; and friends David and Jean Hastings of Norwich, Bill Kubota, John Gulas and many others. The 2nd Air Division raised funds at the end of the war in 1945 and in the years since to create a "living" memorial. The American Library Memorial to the 2nd Air Division is a place to not only remember those lost but to also build upon the cultural ties between the people of America and the United Kingdom. The Library, in the Forum in the City of Norwich, England, has books, events, lectures and an extensive research archives. It is an important resource for information about a family member who served, about the war and about American culture. The American Library is the resting place for the Roll of Honor inscribed with the names of 6,700 men and women of the 2nd Air Division who gave their lives. https://www.americanlibrary.uk A great way to find out more about women in World War II and other wars is through The Donut Dollies Podcast. / @thedonutdolliespod I also want to add a link to the Mighty 8th Podcast.
