Raised on the Nez Perce reservation in Lapwai, Idaho, Jaci McCormack found purpose through sport long before she had the words for it. Basketball opened doors to college, but it also revealed something deeper: the life-changing power of representation. In this talk, Jaci shares how her journey as an athlete, Native woman, and founder of the influential nonprofit, Rise Above which has led her to build a movement that helps Native youth see themselves differently. Not through the limits placed on them, but through purpose, power, and possibility. Her message is a compelling reminder that when young people can see themselves reflected in leadership, they can begin to imagine entirely new futures. Rise Above, empowers Native youth through sports, education, mentorship, and prevention-based programs. Jaci McCormack is a division I athlete turned nonprofit founder, Jaci uplifts youth from marginalized communities through mentorship and empowerment. Jaci channels her lived experience into creating opportunities for the next generation, breaking barriers and building bridges where they are needed most.
