Today we explore Malta and Gozo islands, situated in the center of the Mediterranean Sea, offering ancient history and natural beauty. Why is special 🇲🇹🇲🇹 Malta has been a crossroads between North Africa, Europe and the Middle East for centuries. From the Neolithic era, through the history of early Christianity, the Middle Ages and the modern era, until WWII, every moment in the history of humanity has left footprints on Malta. Malta has been a set for many movies and Tv series (Troy, Gladiator, Napoleon, Game of Thrones) 🎥 🎥🎥 Itinerary Day 1 – Valletta + 3 cities Day 2 - Tarxien Temple + Magar Quim Temple +Mnajdra Temple + Blue Grotto Day 3 - Mdina + Rabat + Dingli cliffs Day 4 – Marfa Peninsula + ferry to Gozo Island Valletta 🏛️🏛️– the capital city of Malta, charming and full of culture, with dramatic views over Grand Harbour. Honey-colored historical buildings, modern yachts and small traditional boats made of colored wood (luzzu) are a photogenic mixture. Don’t miss: Triton fountain – City Gate- Parliament Building – Royal Opera House - Valletta waterfront –St. John Co-Cathedral (hosting the famous Caravaggio painting “Beheading of Saint John the Baptist “) - Upper Barraka Gardens (the best viewpoint on Grand Harbour) 3 cities 🏛️– Vitoriosa Cospicua Senglea - three old cities built on three promontories projecting into Grand Harbour. Walk or drive a small electric car along their narrow streets, looking for historic palaces and scenic views over the harbor. Tarxien Temple - Magar Quim e Mnajdra Temples– 🏛️🏛️🏛️built over 5000 years ago, these Neolithic temples are made of massive stone blocks, aligned with the sun. The winter or summer solstice at Mnajdra Temple is an emotional experience (remember to reserve in advance!) Blue Grotto 🌊– a natural arch surrounded by blue waters. Stop for a picture from the lookout on the road and plan a boat tour (summer season). Mdina 🏛️🏛️– walk the streets of this characteristic fortified city, savoring its peculiar atmosphere and watching its elegant buildings made of honey-colored limestone. St. Paul Cathedral and its dome are a postcard of Malta. Rabat 🏛️🏛️- iconic Maltese balconies can be seen in great numbers, walking along the streets of this ancient city (adjacent to Mdina). Don’t miss these fascinating visits in town: St. Paul Grotto 🏛️(located inside the Wignacourt Museum) - St. Paul and St. Agata Catacombs 🏛️- subterranean labyrinths used more than two thousand years ago as cemeteries and ritual spaces by early Christians, and as hiding places during WWII. Dingli Cliff and Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene💒– enjoy sunset time at this scenic point on the West Coast. Ghajn Tuffieha Bay🌊🌊- arguably the best beach in Malta! Walk along the cliff top to enjoy the view of this magnificent beach and over Golden Bay (north) and Qarraba Bay(south). Walk down the steps to swim or sunbathe.
