I picked up this SS Brewtech Chronical fermenter from my friends at Blue Dolly Brewing and it's a couple of years old so it's due for a passivation. Typically you want to passivate new equipment you just got from the manufacturer and your equipment that's been in use for around 2 years. The reason we do this is because the stainless steel needs to have the barrier of chromium on top of it so that it doesn't rust or corrode. This will keep your equipment working for longer, very important when you're spending upwards for hundreds of dollars on stainless steel equipment! *Equipment links below!
