On September 19, 2025, I found myself in western South Carolina on the famous Pickens Railway to catch their now-endangered classic GE U18B's in operation. As luck would have it, I would see 3 of them operating that day; one on the Anderson job and two on the Belton job. I would also catch NS P45 switching in Anderson after initially catching the Anderson job. After P45 cleared, the Anderson job would pull down and head a bit further east to make a pickup to bring back to Anderson while the Belton job would await its turn to head east. After a bit of time, the Anderson job returned and the Belton job would make its move after they cleared. Being that this was my first time ever chasing the railroad, I had no idea where else they would have to work, so I ended up not getting as many shots as I would have gotten otherwise if I did know. With that, I chased them to the PKHP/GRLW interchange in Belton. Once there, I would catch my first glimpse of the Greenville & Western's roster... half of their roster as a matter of fact. One of their ex-ATSF GP30's and 2 of their GP9's would be in charge of their train today as they prepared to pick up a cut of cars from the Pickens. I would get the GRLW just north of the interchange before heading back into Belton to await the Pickens to return west. After about an hour, the Belton job would make its way past the veterans memorial on its trip back west towards Anderson. I would see them two more times before calling it a day. My last shot of them shows the two U18B's really working hard up the grade on the east side of Anderson. After that, I would make my way back to my hotel. I hope y'all enjoy! #train #railfanning #railfan #trains #railroad #diesellocomotive #railway #southcarolina
