On June 21st, Reading & Northern 2102 would lead its second Tunkhannock Iron Horse Rambles ever. Last year, I had plans to go see this, but canceled at that point and I really had no excuse to miss it. So it was written in the plans for this year, as there was one shot I wanted to get north of Pittston. While I had chased the Pittston Iron Horse Rambles & Mountain Top in 2019 I knew what shots I wanted this time around. It was for the most part a Sunny hot day outside. This excursion would be heading for the Tunkhannock Founders day festival. Departing Nesquehoning at 9 AM, we would start off in the Lehigh Gorge State park. As soon as 2102 passed us we knew it would be a great day. This so far is my favorite chase with the current loudest operational Steam Train, as 2102 put on a great show all day. While we had to deal with the Harsh sun at many parts of the day. Join me trackside, as we watch 2102 battle the steep mountain grades of the Lehigh Line, in both Northbound & Southbound direction, through the Lehigh Gorge, forests, towns, and along the river valleys of the Susquehanna River. Listen to 2102 battle the 2% grade out of Pittston, as well as climbing back to Nesquehoning. Enjoy what will probably be my last chase of 2102 this year! The #2102 was originally built as a Reading I-10sa Consolidation Type Steam Locomotive in the 1920s. In the 40s when the Reading Railroad needed a more powerful steam locomotive during the War, the locomotive was rebuild by the Reading Shops into the 4-8-4 T1 4-8-4 Type Steam Locomotive to haul the heavier trains. In the 1960s the engine operated on the Famous Reading Ramble Excursions. Afterwards, she would be sold and operated across the county. In the 1980s Andy Mueller purchased the 2102 and began operating it on his Tourist Railroad, and while she went down in 1991, she grandly returned in 2022! For the past 3 years, it has been operating Fall Foliage, and Iron Horse Rambles excursions. Bison Rail Photography chased with me that day, as well as @MiddleTennesseeRailProductions & @LanesTrains. We would also run into @GTRFTrainCinematography @firegrateproductions @Djcman331 @NYTrainzchaser @CartersTrains @ATrain4014 @ATSF669 @TrainChamber @MPT_Productions @Bigjimvideo @ITrooper089Productions @tristanrailproductions @aceoftrainsproductions745 @TheBigBananaRailfan @BrodieProductions412 @ConnecticutRailFilms A huge thank you goes out to Middle Tennessee Rail Productions for his help in this video. Now that we have caught up on June videos, my video next week will be of the Nickel Plate Road #358 during the Deadhead Tri-State Scenic Move. This past weekend, I went out to New York & Lake Erie to document there newest engine, #636 but instead was treated to a triple header with all 3. I am currently working on that video right now. If all goes well, in the next few days I will be heading out to Denver, to document this years 4014 Cheyenne to Denver & Return excursion. I look forward to this, as I have wanted to film #4014 on this line. I am hoping to still see this year #142 #1702 #4501 and #630 but it is all going to depend on schedules, as I am awaiting a few of them.
