Sometimes things take roots all on their own and when you get a chance to look over your shoulder you suddenly see a massive creeper you never even imagined.  This is how Heather sees her life as a midwife.  She puts herself out there.  She is still not honestly sure whether she was naïve or courageous and as she looks back she is quite amazed at how a tiny little seed has grown into something so much bigger than she ever dreamed possible. Heather is a private practicing midwife, antenatal educator and owner of a busy midwifery practice in Pretoria. Heather's passion is assisting couples to have positive birthing experiences and empowering them to believe in their own abilities as they embark on parenthood. She does this by offering an ideal community set up with complete holistic care at her Birth House in Pretoria. Heather is also an advocate for younger midwives, doulas and other birth practitioners who need encouragement and a gentle nudge into private practice as she loves the opportunity to lead from behind whilst they develop their wings. Her aim this year is to co-author a book on natural birth in South Africa along with a very dear friend who is also a doula and lactation consultant.
