Miao batik or la ran (蜡染), is a wax-resist dyeing technique that has been around since the Qin and Han dynasties, and families of indigenous painters would often honour their ancestors through the art they create. Now listed as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, this ancient practice has been largely preserved in the geographically isolated villages of Danzhai, Guizhou - which is where we'll be heading for this exclusive showcase!
