The first year Les Otten owned Sugarbush, he built many lifts. This Doppelmayr high speed quad was by far the most unique of the 7 new or relocated lifts built as part of the 1995 mega project. It revolutionized the ski experience by unifying two formerly separate ski areas into one combined resort. The lift runs from the bottom of the North Ridge Express on Mount Ellen to the top of the Gate House Express on Lincoln Peak. Both terminals are centrally located and allow easy access to all parts of the resort. Unfortunately, after Les Otten sold the resort, the lift started running less and less. Self-imposed rules restricted the lift from operating when there wasn't enough snow under the lift, and when the temperature was below 5 degrees. At one point, it only ran on weekends when those conditions were met. However, now it runs every day conditions permitting. I think they need to find out a way to get it to run every day it isn't on wind hold, so that Sugarbush can feel more like the single, unified resort that Les Otten intended it to be.
