Insulation - VW Crafter Camper Conversion

This is the fourth video of our new campervan build! Follow me as I fully insulate our VW Crafter campervan. The basis for this conversion is a 2013 VW Crafter and the whole interior will be handmade by me over the next few months. The van’s previous life was as a support vehicle for Volvo lorries so you can imagine the back is pretty oily and greasy. The job turned out to be pretty straightforward. One thing I would do differently is to not use the rigid insulation board on the sides. This was very fiddly because the recess tapers to the back which made cutting the board to fit was very difficult. In the end we used the soft insulation roll. Another thing I would think twice about is using stick pins to hold the insulation board to the ceiling and doors. In places they would just not stick making the foam board drop. In the end it doesn’t make a difference as it’s all covered in a foil membrane and plywood, but I think it would have been quicker and easier to just use glue.
