Since 2016, the College of Energy Engineering at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou has hosted seven successful editions of the International Training Workshop on Waste-to-Energy (WtE), supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. The workshop aims to build capacity and share advanced knowledge on Waste-to-Energy technologies, project development, and sustainable waste management practices. It brings together policymakers, engineers, and researchers from developing and developed countries to exchange experiences, learn from real case studies, and strengthen technical and institutional understanding of WtE solutions. Over the years, participants from Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East have gained hands-on insights into the design, operation, and management of modern WtE facilities, visiting advanced Chinese plants and engaging with leading experts from academia and industry. This program has played a vital role in raising global awareness of the urgent need for effective waste management and clean energy recovery. With 30 years of experience in WtE development, countries such as China, Japan, and those in the European Union have accumulated invaluable expertise and technologies that can support developing nations in building feasible and sustainable projects. This video reviews the legacy of the International Training Workshop from 2016 to 2023—highlighting its impact, achievements, and contribution to global collaboration toward a more sustainable and circular future.
