Running is simple! All you need are some shoes and you’re off to the races, right? While it’s true you don’t NEED much to run, when it comes to racing an ultra, it is wise to consider investing in gear that will make your race easy and more enjoyable. A 50K can be run relying purely on aid stations, but having your own aid is much safer and far more reliable. Each runner has his/her own needs as well. For some, one bottle is going to provide enough water for 15 miles. Others may need two bottles to get through 10 miles. The same goes for fuel! I have to bring all my food because I can’t eat most of what’s served on the tables. That means I need a pack or enough pockets to hold everything. Every 50K is going to be different in regards to how many aid stations will be provided, the number of drop bags that’ll be permitted and how difficult the terrain is between aid stations is (this will either shorten or lengthen the time between aid stations). Weather is always a factor in trail running and can significantly change what is packed. All that being said, I can’t tell you what YOU need in a 50K race. I can provide a baseline of what I’ll be using for the Franklin Mt. 50K (to compare your race with this one follow the link below). You can tailor your pack from there! I always try to carry the least amount on my body. If I can pick it up from a drop bag, I don’t want it on my back. Please comment any questions down below. I’m happy to answer anything I can help with. I’m interested in what do you to pack for a 50K as well, so let me know down below! I bought all the clothes, nutrition, packs and additional items with my money and use them because it works for me. If you do click any of the Amazon links, it will support my channel at no cost to you. However, I encourage you to shop around at your local running shops to find the best gear for your race and goals (ESPECIALLY SHOES, if you’re new to this). This does not have to be an expensive sport. There are many ways to get gear cheaper, make your own nutrition and shop the sales for shoes. For example, REI garage sales are great for discounted gear! TROT Franklin Mountain 50K Race info: http://www.trailracingovertexas.com/f... #Ultrarunninggear #trailracinggear #50Kgear
