There is nobody I respect more than my dad. Tough as nails, forged a path all on his own and created the life he wanted to live through power and precision. With that being said, he's always been faster than me. Marathons, 10K's, ultras... you name it, he's faster. In 2007, he ran his fastest marathon time of 2:50:21 at the NYC marathon and my goal for this marathon was to surpass that. Potentially (definitely) easier with a course as fast as the Tunnel Vision Marathon, which is the course I ran this weekend but tough to do no matter what (seriously to all who doubt, run a sub 2:50 marathon or hold your comments… you’re doing yourself a disservice haha). NYC marathon gains 900 feet from beginning to end which makes that course extremely impressive to PR at, my goal is to get under that time later this year. We’ll see if that happens. Will I reach my goal and surpass my dad's time? Only one way to tell. Let it be understood that I believe my dad could still beat me and would've on this course, but I'll take the victory while I have it. Would love for us both to break 2:40 eventually, but typically you don't get faster in your late 50's I've heard. Guess we'll find out.
