Naming your emotions can make a big difference in how you feel. In this video, we'll dive into the power of identifying and naming your emotions. When we communicate our feelings, it’s crucial to know exactly what we’re feeling for our messages to be clear and accurate. Plus, research suggests that labeling our emotions can actually reduce the intensity of negative feelings! Learn how naming specific emotions boosts self-awareness and helps us handle emotions more effectively. Emotions serve three key functions: -Communicating with ourselves -Communicating with others -Preparing us for action From broad categories like Anger, Sadness, and Happiness, to specific feelings such as Annoyance, Fury, or Joy, understanding the nuance can change how we react. For example, recognizing that you’re annoyed rather than enraged can help manage your response and reduce emotional intensity. In Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), we focus on transforming our relationship with our emotions. This means improving our ability to regulate our feelings, experience more joy, and encounter less discomfort. At The Counseling Center Group® we use a variety of techniques to help improve the quality of life for individuals, couples, groups, and families. We work with children, adolescents, and adults.
