Do This EVERY DAY (And You’ll NEVER Have Mid Back Pain) . The knee jerk reaction for mid back issues is to lay backwards over something while chanting ‘I’m trying to open up my thoracic spine.’ . The thoracic spine will influence the rest of your body because any movement restriction will be recovered either above or below your thoracic spine. . Which means that… your neck will hurt your shoulders will hurt your wrists will hurt your low back will hurt your hips will hurt your knees will hurt . You get the idea. . Most mid back pain stems from joint restrictions and lack of muscle awareness. What that means, is that, even if you ‘stretch’ your midback, if you don’t exploit that new range of motion, your CNS won’t even recognize the ‘unrestricted’ movement. . The most effective way to loosen up the thoracic spine is by working through rotation, since the facet joints are designed FOR rotation, and the wedge shaped vertebra will lock out most extension anyway. . Reinforce the new range by forcing the new motion against load. . Follow this series every second day and you’ll be good to go in a few weeks. . First let’s do a Quick Test: The Back Pocket Test . Then knock this out. . 1️⃣ Lateral Opener - 2 minutes 2️⃣ Thoracic Opener - 2 minutes 3️⃣ Banded Thoracic Push Out - 3 x 15 4️⃣ Offset Wall Sweep - 3 x 10 5️⃣ Loaded Kneeling Thoracic Rotation - 3 x 10 .
