Adventures with Cole Ep. 11 Skidoo trip to Old Man’s Pond, a glacier-formed pond deep in the remote backcountry of western Newfoundland, Canada. This winter backcountry adventure follows a groomed skidoo trail along the historic Camp 10 logging road before turning onto a steep off-trail route with cliff edges leading down to the pond. Old Man’s Pond is a unique glacier-formed landscape that was once part of the ocean, surrounded by rugged terrain, deep snow, and incredible mountain views. After exploring the area and taking in the scenery, the ride continues through the remote Newfoundland wilderness to a warm-up shelter known as “The Kitchen,” where moose burgers are cooked on a wood stove before heading back out into the dark backcountry for the night ride home — including a moose sighting along the trail.
