Uterine Fibroids, Symptoms, and Treatment/Surgery Options: Part 1/3 In part 1: We're talking about fibroids, the genetics of uterine fibroids (non-cancerous tumors. in the uterus), fibroid sizes, uterus size, symptoms, symptom management, surgery options, diet and lifestyle treatment for fibroids. July is fibroid awareness month so it's important to talk about this since 80% of women will experience fibroids in their lifetime. Black women are more likely to have fibroids as well and research shows they're more likely to require surgery to treat their fibroids. Please remember, I’m not a medical professional and you should consult one for your personal matters. In part 2: I'm getting personal in this video and giving you the details about my fibroid journey. I'm starting with when I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids (benign uterine fibroids), monitoring my fibroid sizes (measured in cm and my uterus was measured and compared to pregnancy months), surgery preparation, surgery day, hospital stay, and fibroid surgery recovery. I had an open abdominal myomectomy, some may elect to have a hysterectomy, laparoscopic surgery, or uterine ablation. Some people try different herbs and change the way they eat to treat fibroids. Fibroids are caused by an excess amount of estrogen, so usually when a woman hits menopause the fibroids will begin to shrink in size. The results of my surgery have been night and day, I joke and say that I got a BBL because my stomach is really flat after surgery. // Hey girl hey, I’m Tiffany, a licensed therapist, in Virginia.
